Metadata Group

Purpose Statement

The ESDN Metadata Group works to enhance overall metadata quality and shareability in New York State cultural heritage organizations. The group explores issues related to metadata creation and enhancement in aggregated environments and promotes best practices for creating shareable metadata, especially in the context of ESDN and DPLA. In collaboration with the ESLN councils and the ESDN Outreach Group, the Metadata Group identifies and organizes educational and training opportunities for metadata professionals in the state. The group develops tools, workshops, webinars, hackathons, or other educational opportunities that help cultural heritage organizations share metadata beyond their local context.
